| Over the last 25 years the Dukes have gained a large and loyal following among Philadelphia listeners who know and love the blues. They’ve appeared at four River Blues Festivals at Penn’s Landing, five concerts sponsored by the Philadelphia Blues Machine, the YO Philadelphia Festival sponsored by the Daily News, and the Pocono Blues Festival. They have also been an opening act for such greats as Albert King, Charlie Musselwhite, Commander Cody, Gatemouth Brown, Koko Taylor, John Lee Hooker, and John Mayall. The band has also served as the backup band for legendary Chicago guitarist/singer Otis Rush. In 1993 the band received an award from the Philadelphia Folk Song Society. With a mix of their own arrangements of obscure blues standards and powerful original songs, the Dukes continue to grow and develop. Their solid musicianship and love of the music inspires fans and critics alike. |

Georgie “The Blacksmith” Bonds has been called “the heart & soul of the Philadelphia blues scene”. Georgie's unusual and unlikely path to the Blues ultimately led to some wonderful and amazing music. In 2001, Georgie independently released his debut CD, "Sometimes I Wonder" and he is currently on a new CD. He was chosen for an acting/singing role in the broadway hit, It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues, which was nominated for four Tony Awards and Best Musical and praised by the New York Times. In 2012, Georgie was inducted into the Philadelphia Blues Hall of Fame. Georgie has established himself as a world class singer/songwriter and blues entertainer and the best is yet to come. It seems as though the Blacksmith is blessed with the gift of making his dreams come true and his fans will reap the benefits of those beautiful dreams. |
